Germany        Use also for Hungary

German Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line or 2nd Line)

5 cards, may always discard (1), no matter how many cards they have used that turn.

German Conscripts (majority squad type = Conscript)

5 cards, Cower cards may only be discarded if no other cards were used that turn, otherwise treat as regulars.

German Elite (majority squad type = Elite or SS)

5 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards are used that turn, or they may discard (1) regardless of other card use.

 

Italy Use also for Bulgaria, Rumania and Nationalist China, except they (Chinese) may use American Split Action cards.

Special = Treat all split-action cards as Cower cards.

Italian Regulars (majority squad type = non-Bersagliari 1st Line)

                4 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards are used that turn.

Italian Conscripts (majority squad type = Conscript)

                4 cards, may discard (1) if no other card is used that turn.

Italian Elite (majority squad type = Elite or Bersagliari)

4 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards are used that turn.  May use German split-action cards.

 

Japan

Special = Japanese use Russian split-action cards.  For purposes of discard ability, Movement/Terrain cards do not count as a card used.  Cower cards may be discarded regardless of how many other cards have been used that turn.

Japanese Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line or 2nd Line)

4 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards have been used that turn. (See special rule above)

Japanese Conscripts (majority squad type = Conscript)

                4 cards, Movement/Terrain cards count as cards used for discard purposes.

Japanese Elite (majority squad type = Elite)

4 cards, may discard (2) cards if only one card was used that turn. (See special rule above)

 

Finland

Special = Finns can use any split-action card which contains Movement or Concealment along with any other action, regardless of nationality.  Split-action cards that have neither Movement nor Concealment are treated as Cower cards.  Cower and Sniper* cards may always be discarded regardless of the number of cards used.  Rally 1* cards do not count as a card used for discard purposes.  Finns use Russian Radio cards.  *These special abilities are only used when the Finns are in their homeland and have Regular or Elite troops.

Finnish Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line)

5 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards have been used that turn. (See special rule above)

Finnish Green (majority squad type = Green)

5 cards, may discard (1) if no other cards have been used that turn.  (See special rule above)

Finnish Elite (majority squad type = Elite)

            5 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards are used that turn, or they may discard (1) if only one card was used.  (See special rule above).

Soviet Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line)

                4 cards, may discard any number of cards if no others cards were used that turn.

Soviet Conscripts (majority squad type = Conscript)

                4 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards were used that turn.

Soviet Elite (majority squad type = Elite)

4 cards, may discard (2) if only one other card is used that turn, or may discard any number if no other cards were used that turn.

 

Partisans Use also for WW2 Red Chinese

Special = All Concealment cards are treated as have a DRM one greater than that shown on the card (EX: -2 is treated as –3).

                4 cards, may discard any number if no other cards were used that turn.

 

USA

American Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line or 2nd Line)

                6 cards, may discard (2) if no other cards have been used that turn.

American Green (majority squad type = Green)

                6 cards, may discard (1) if no other cards have been used that turn.

American Elite (majority squad type = Elite or Marines)

    6 cards, may use one card and still discard (1), or they may discard (2) if no other cards have been used that turn.

 

France(also use for Belgium, Netherlands, Norway and Poland)

Special = Use American split-action cards.

French Regulars (majority squad type = 1st Line)
               
5 cards, may discard (1) if no other cards have been played that turn.

French Green (majority squad type = Green)
               
5 cards, may discard (1) if no other cards are played that turn, and treat all split-action cards as Cower cards.

Special = British may use split-action cards which are usable by either Germany or the USA.  Radio cards may be used only if usable by both USA and Germany.
