Leone Veloche (an archaic pronunciation of Swift Lion) unites the Western tribes under his rule.
500; Veil first
penetrated
Tribal wise men and shamans determine that the Veil can be traversed magically. The first tentative explorations begin.
1200;
Teyeteye nomads migrate to Ir Patria
Horse nomads from beyond the Veil migrate into the NW area under pressure from inter-tribal warfare and monster depredations. They introduce the domestication of horses. They are gradually assimilated or destroyed in warfare.
2000;
Rise of Empire
The Impere the Martere (Empire of the Hammer) arises from the unification of the northern tribes under Leone Gigante (an archaic pronunciation of Giant Lion) who founds his capital, Acqua Granthe Cita, on the north shore of the Rage Sarata. (Sarata is the old form of yarata, salt, and rage translates as lake).
2500; Golden Age
The Empire flourishes and expands to include all of the now urbanized areas of Ir Patria. The previous 500 years are a heyday for the arts, science and thaumaturgy, with many advances being made.
2590;
Beginning of decadence
The Empire starts to slip into decadence; this period is known as the Ramoriyi (becoming soft). Brutality began to replace justice, and onerous, arbitrary taxes were levied against the outlying provinces to pay for the incredible palace that was being constantly added to by each succeeding emperor.
2650;
War of succession
Emperor Foyente Rankia died without an heir, and the empire exploded into a vicious war of succession. The Imperial coffers were drained and the manpower of the lords engaged in the war was decimated. Finally, Reone Giare, second cousin to the dead Emperor, is crowned. His reign last for 20 years and founded a new dynasty, which would last until the last days of the Empire.
2720;
Empire's decline
The Empire continued its slow spiral into the abyss. The Giare dynasty proved to be just as corrupt as the family that it replaced. During this period the outlying provinces were almost autonomous, and took every chance that they could to push for more independence.
2790;
Drought!
Several years of drought resulted in a massive famine that killed off about 50% of the population in the urbanized areas. This event probably saved the empire from an earlier civil war.
2850;
Weak rule
Emperor Fure Giare III, a petulant, detail oriented man, decided that the outlying provinces had been shirking their duties to the empire and they were to be brought to heel.
2910; Civil war
The changes brought on by Emperor Fure Giare III finally became too much for the provinces to bear. When Fure Giare III sickened and his son, Novire Giare, showed no sign of changing policy, the outlying provinces broke into rebellion. Factions within the central part of the empire also began a civil war, hoping for a change in leadership. The war ground on for the next 60 years, until 2970.
2970;
Great Flood
In the early part of the year 2970 a massive earthquake shook the land. The epicenter was on the SE shore of the Rage Yarata. The hills holding back a 50-mile long lake above the Rage Yarata shifted and millions of tons of water suddenly found a way through the hills. The impact of the lake's contents with the Rage Yarata caused a massive tidal wave that roared out and over the surrounding lands. Yeranthe (the contemporary name for Acqua Granthe Cita, the full title was rarely used except in ceremonies. (Yeranthe is the modern version of Granthe)) was built very close to the water and in a very low-lying area, (much of it had been reclaimed marsh), the wave smashed into the city and killed most of the inhabitants. The water level also rose several feet, which inundated the ruins and prevented rebuilding.
3060;
Introduction of composite bow
The “Flying Merchants” introduce the composite bow. It was immediately seen as being superior to the simple bow that had been used for centuries. It is still mainly seen in use by the military and the wealthy, since the skill of making them is still rare.
3064;
Maneuverings for war
The three smaller kingdoms, Ragenegre, Regne thi Vare and Regne thi Totue, begin to resent Regne thi Rage. They are specifically worried that they are striving for domination as a new Empire. So far this has simply taken the form of tariffs and political pressure put on the Cicogneyi barbarian tribes that border the other kingdoms.
3069;
Rebellion
The Cicogneyi Oveyet tribe, which owes allegiance to Regne thi Rage, has gone into rebellion. Many people in Regne thi rage feel that this is the result of manipulation by the Regne thi Vare. The tribe claims that it wants to be independent of the Regne thi Rage’s hegemony.
