Languages and the Cultures that Speak Them

A Brief Explanation

A language with a number listed next to it (ex; Durch#2), represents a linguistic drift from a common language. The numbers are purely a game mechanic, so you don't spend all night trying to figure out if Blinian Ahngli defaults to Attonese Ahngli at -4 or -2. The numbers represent the amount of drifting that has occurred. Simply use the difference between the two numbers as a modifier to the language skills. Ex; Blin speak Ahngli#6 and the Atton speak Ahngli#0, thus they are at -6 to understand each other. The same Blin speaking to a Thevardian scholar, who speaks Ahngli#4, would only have a -2 to her language skill.
